Old Fashioned Rock Candy Recipe
Ingredients:
4 c. sugar2 c. Karo syrup
1 c. water
Food coloring
Flavorings
Cooking Directions:
Any spices or extracts will work as flavorings. Share this with your children, it is great for boring Christmas vacation. In a large saucepan, combine ingredients over medium-high heat. Stir constantly, boil until hard-crack stage. (When a small amount of mixture hardens and cracks when put in a glass of cold water). Add food colorings and flavorings. Pour in shallow cookie sheet; cool. When cool put clean flour sack towel over pan and use a clean hammer to break-up candy. Store in coffee cans with 1/2 cup powdered sugar in them to prevent sticking and shake to coat pieces.Other Recipes you might like:
