Angel - Checkerboard Fluff Recipe
Ingredients:
1 angel food cake mix1 pkg. strawberry Jello
1 c. hot water
1/2 c. ice water
1 c. strawberry juice
1 tbsp. cornstarch
Dash of salt
2-3 drops red food coloring
Cooking Directions:
Bake as directed.FILLING:
1 pkg. strawberry Jello1 c. hot water1/2 c. ice water
Set aside until it gets to shaky thickened stage. strawberries, drain (save juice for glaze) 2 env. Dream Whip, beat as directed on pkg.
1. Make angel food cake.
2. Make filling mixture.
3. Drain frozen strawberries.
4. Whip Dream Whip.
5. Fold thickened Jello and Dream Whip and berries together.
6. Slice a 1 1/2-2" piece of cake horizontally and reserve it for the top.
7. Tear rest of cake into pieces.
8. In cleaned tube pan alternate layers of torn cake pieces and pink mixture ending with top of cake. Refrigerate several hours.
9. Unmold and ice with the following glaze.
GLAZE:
1 c. strawberry juice1 tbsp. cornstarchDash of salt2-3 drops red food coloring
Mix all ingredients in saucepan and cook until a glossy glaze. Remove from heat. Add a walnut size lump of butter. Cool slightly and spread on top of cake.
