Gumdrop Gems Recipe
Ingredients:
1 c. shortening3/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tbsp. baking soda
1/2 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 c. uncooked rolled oats, quick or old fashioned
48 small gumdrops
Cooking Directions:
Cream shortening with vanilla. Add sugars gradually, creaming well. Add eggs and beat thoroughly. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in oats. Shape dough into balls and put in greased cookie sheet. Make a depression in each ball and place a gumdrop in each hollow. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
