Pfeffernuesse Recipe
Ingredients:
4 c. flour1 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. cardamom
1 tsp. ground aniseed
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 1/4 c. honey
2 tbsp. butter
2 eggs
1/4 c. candied orange peel
1/4 c. candied lemon peel
1/4 c. chopped almonds
Cooking Directions:
Sift dry ingredients. Heat honey and butter until lukewarm. Beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients, lemon and orange peel, and almonds. Stir until blended. Refrigerate 1/2 hour. With floured hands, shape dough into 1 inch balls. Put on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool. Frost with 1 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar, which has been blended with 2-3 tablespoons hot water.Other Recipes you might like:
