Basic Cream Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

2 c. milk
1 c. evaporated milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. cornstarch
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. butter

Cooking Directions:

In medium saucepan, heat both milks. Mix sugar and cornstarch. When milk is warm, add sugar mixture and beaten egg yolks, stirring often to prevent sticking. When thick, remove from stove and add vanilla and butter. Pour into baked pie shell.

VARIATIONS:

Coconut Pie: Add 1 1/2 cups coconut

Pineapple: Add large can crushed pineapple, drained well

Banana: Add sliced bananas

Chocolate: Mix 1/3 cup cocoa to sugar and cornstarch

Can also be used for banana pudding.

Top with meringue and bake or top with whipped cream.
