Greek Pitas Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb. ground lamb1/4 c. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 whole wheat pitas
Shredded lettuce
2 tomatoes, chopped
1/2 c. plain yogurt
1 tsp. mint leaves, chopped
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 cucumber, chopped
Cooking Directions:
Cook lamb, onion and garlic in oil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until lamb is brown. Drain. Stir in salt, cumin and pepper. Cut each pita pocket in half, making 2 pockets. Spoon lamb mixture into each pocket. Stuff lettuce and tomato into each. Make a sauce by mixing together the yogurt, mint leaves, sugar and cucumber.
