Black Beans And Rice Recipe
Ingredients:
1 ham hock1 pkg. black beans, sorted and washed
2 c. brown rice
1 lg. onion, peeled but do not chop
2 bay leaves
4-5 whole garlic cloves
Cooking Directions:
Cover beans and ham hock with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low. Add onion, whole. Add spices. Cook until beans are almost tender. Remove ham hock. Add rice, reduce heat to low and cook for 30 minutes.Turn heat off and allow to sit, covered, for 30 minutes or more. When the ham hock is cool enough to touch, remove lean meat and discard the rest. Add to pot. Serve with soy sauce.
